WHO KNEW?
We have just replaced a customer's Polaris Light Meter that failed upon initial use. You could turn it on but you could not turn it off. Their repair person called and advised that it contained a Lithium AA battery and that Lithium batteries can harm the electronics in small devices. Use only alkaline batteries in Polaris light meters. Lesson learned. (Polaris is kind enough to replace the unit at no charge.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
AND THEN...
Nikon issued a technical service advisory informing D5000 DSLR customers the company will repair a flaw in the unit at no cost. Nikon said, "While Nikon takes great measures to assure high quality in its imaging products, it has come to our attention that an electronic component related to power control in some Nikon D5000 digital SLR cameras does not meet factory specifications and may, in certain circumstances, prevent the camera from turning on, thus preventing operation of the camera". No D5000 sold by CAMERAS BROOKWOOD appears to be affected.

It is also the ideal camera support for almost anyone under 5'8" and happily serves double duty as a support for spotting scopes or camcorders. The best part?
